Custom Shopify and NetSuite integration

Shopify and NetSuite, connected around your actual data model.

  • Typical range$12,000 – $45,000 depending on store count and fulfillment complexity
  • Timeline4–10 weeks

Shopify to NetSuite integration synchronizes orders, inventory, customers and fulfillment status. Standard connectors cover single-store, single-currency setups adequately. Custom development is warranted for multi-store or multi-currency operations, non-standard fulfillment flows, or order volumes where batching and reconciliation matter more than the field mapping.

When a packaged Shopify NetSuite connector is not enough

  • Multi-store and multi-currency setups exceed what most packaged connectors handle cleanly.
  • Inventory sync direction and timing is a business decision with real oversell consequences.
  • Refunds, partial fulfillment and exchanges rarely map cleanly and are usually where connectors give up.
  • At volume, reconciliation matters more than the sync itself. You need to prove nothing was lost.

What has to be mapped

The objects that need a decision before any code is written, and the ones that most often go wrong.

ObjectDecision
Order → Sales OrderIncluding discounts, shipping and tax lines
CustomerGuest checkout needs an explicit rule
InventoryNetSuite → Shopify; timing decides your oversell risk
Fulfillment / trackingNetSuite → Shopify, back to the customer
Refunds and returnsThe most commonly under-specified path

What actually goes wrong

Overselling from stale inventory

Inventory sync frequency is a commercial decision, not a technical default. Decide the acceptable window deliberately.

Partial fulfillment and split shipments

Frequently unsupported by packaged connectors and frequently how the business actually operates.

No reconciliation report

At volume you need to be able to prove every Shopify order reached NetSuite. Without that, a gap is found at month end.

Common questions

It depends on how fast your stock moves and what an oversell costs you. Near-real-time via webhooks is achievable; scheduled batches are cheaper. The right answer is a commercial decision about acceptable risk, which we make explicitly rather than by default.

Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons a packaged connector is not sufficient: subsidiary mapping, per-store location logic and currency handling all need to be explicit.
